Alert  Level 2 update: 18 May 2020

Guidelines for Visiting

Rest Home and Hospital

The facility will be open to visitors, however, strict restrictions and guidelines must be followed:

  • All visitors must enter through the hospital entrance (only one entrance will be open).
  • Visiting hours will be on Monday to Friday from:

10am to 11.30am. If you arrive at 11.30am you can stay 30 minutes but must leave at midday.
2pm to 5.30pm. If you arrive at 5.30pm you can stay 30 minutes but must leave by 6pm.

  • Visiting during the weekend will be from 1pm to 4.30pm. If you arrive at 4.30pm you can stay 30 minutes but must leave by 5pm.
  • Only 2 people will be able to visit at a time and no children under 16 years.
  • Sanitise your hands when you arrive and leave.
  • You’ll need to sign in with your name, contact details and the name of the person you’re visiting. Your temperature will be taken and recorded when you sign in.
  • Once you’ve signed in, you must go directly to see the person you’re visiting.
  • On entering the resident’s room, you must sit at least 1 metre Please do not kiss.
  • Keep visits short – up to 15 to 30 minutes maximum.
  • You can use the lounge during your visit or sit outdoors but you’ll need to stay at least 2 metres apart from others at all times.
  • If you visit during lunchtime you will need to wait in your resident’s room for them to finish.
  • Do not take your relative on outings. We will review this once the impact of Level 2 is better known. For now it is safer if residents have as little contact as possible with ‘strangers’ and external environments.
  • If you usually come to feed your relative you can continue to do so.
  • If you feel unwell, please do not visit.
  • Many family members will be keen to visit as soon as we go to Level 2, but please delay your visit for a day or two if you can so that we don’t have everyone arriving at once. Please be patient at the entrance as we do the health screen.
  • If you’re unsure, please call us first on 09 538 0800.

  • If the resident is not well, they cannot have visitors. Likewise, if you feel unwell, please do not visit.
  • Activities will resume but with a limit of 10 people attending at a time.

Respite care

We’ll be in contact directly with those on the waiting list for respite care once we have received specific guidelines from the Ministry of Health. If you need to book respite care, please contact Jenny Moore, Social Worker, on 538 0803.

Day Programme

We are hoping to be able to open the Day Programme under Level 2, but with significant restrictions. The Day Programme team leader will be in touch with attendees or family members if the programme is to re-open.

There are likely to be significant restrictions on the number attending each day and we’ll also need to work through transport options to adhere to the social distancing guidelines.

  • We’ll be back in touch once we have confirmation. Please do NOT just turn up on the first day of Level 2 as the Day Programme may not yet be open.
