COVID-19 Update: HBH Residents
A letter from Bonnie Robinson, CEO to Residents and Family Members of HBH Senior Living
Dear Residents and Family Members
We are back in Lockdown
As most of you are aware, last night the government put Auckland into Level 3 due to 4 cases of Covid-19 in the community, with unknown origin.
Today, the government announced that all aged residential care facilities had to go into total lockdown.
This means that until further notice:
- No visitors to the care facility. This includes family members residing in our apartments.
- Residents may not leave the facility unless it is for urgent medical reasons. Non urgent medical/clinic appointments will be cancelled/rescheduled.
- We are restricting movement within the facility. Residents will remain within their own community and there will be no mingling. This is to reduce chances of any infection spreading if it were to occur.
We will be facilitating video calls again. If you would like to make a video call, please contact the team leader of the community where you live/your relative lives. Please be patient about these and it may take a little while to get through everyone who wants a call.
Respite care: this is cancelled for two weeks from today. We will reassess after that.
Dropping off gifts or personal items for residents: if you want to get something to a resident, please drop it off at the HOSPITAL main door in the box provided (or put in fridge provided if perishable goods). Please label clearly with the name of the resident. Staff will collect items and deliver them.
We know it is frustrating and a little scary to be back in lock-down again. Be assured that we will be doing everything we can to ensure everyone is safe, well and happy. We have done this before – we got through last time and will get through this time.
We do not yet know how long this lockdown will last for. Once we have more information from the government, we will let you know.
